Supergirl at Superhero High
(DC Super Hero Girls #2)
Lisa Yee
July 5, 2016
Random House BFYR
Middle-Grade (ages 8-12)
Get your cape on with the DC Super Hero Girls™—the unprecedented new Super Hero universe especially for girls! Readers of all ages can fly high with the all-new adventures of Wonder Woman™, Supergirl™, Batgirl™, and some of the world’s most iconic female super heroes as high schoolers!
Supergirl is the new girl in school—and she just also happens to be the most powerful teenager in the galaxy!
After losing her home planet of Krypton and everyone she knows, Supergirl has made a new home on Earth, but she’s isn’t so sure that Super Hero High School is the right place for her. Wonder Woman, other new friends, and a kindly librarian make her feel welcome, but breached inter-dimensional portals, invading alien armies, and bad dreams shake her confidence. It’s not easy being a super hero and a high school student all at once!
Award-winning author Lisa Yee brings mystery, thrills, and laughs to this groundbreaking series that follows DC Comics’ most iconic female Super Heroes and Super-Villains. Move over Batman™ and Superman™—the DC Super Hero Girls are ready to save the day and have fun doing it!

Praise for DC Super Hero Girls:
“Sure to have wide appeal, this book is a solid option to balance collections saturated with male superheroes.” —School Library Journal

Super Hero High’s newest student has arrived and she may just be the most powerful teenager in the galaxy! After losing her beloved Krypton and family, Supergirl has found a home with the loving Kents and her super cousin, but she knows she must attend a high school with others like her. Supergirl arrives at Super Hero High and, while she quickly makes friends with Wonder Woman and her crew, she still isn’t sure if Super Hero High is the best place for her. She quickly bonds with the kind librarian and tech wiz Barbara Gordon, but the threat of an invading alien army has Supergirl questioning whether she’s really superhero material after all.

Lisa Yee returns to her exciting DC Super Hero Girls series with Supergirl at Super Hero High and this second book in the series offers readers more super fun, super laughs, and super sized entertainment! Fast paced and full of age appropriate thrills and chills, Supergirl at Super Hero High is a definite page-turner.  Like book one, which focused on a young Wonder Woman, this sequel tells young Supergirl’s story, from her tragic final day on Krypton to her being found and taken in by the Kents, her arrival at Super Hero High, and her triumphant saving of the day. Young readers will have a blast getting to know Supergirl and will love how relatable and accessible she is, yet still be amazed and astounded by her wicked cool abilities, and be enthralled by the twists and turns and mystery of just who is the real villain of this story.

Yee does a great job of incorporating SO many beloved and well-known DC characters, both heroes and villains, and it is so much fun seeing most of them as teenagers. And, of course, there is so much awesome female empowerment throughout these books! Female superheroes have long been overshadowed by their male counterparts, but this series lets them shine!

My final thoughts: Supergirl at Super Hero High is an exciting, engaging, and entertaining second book in an awesome series that superhero fans of all ages will adore!

This may sound cliche but my favorite female super hero is Wonder Woman. I like her because of her strong personality and for her amazing abilities.
